Jose Foundation Donates 1,600 Delivery Kits to Kwara State to Help Reduce Maternal Mortality
Jose Foundation UK, in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of Kwara State, has distributed 1,600 delivery kits to support safe childbirth and reduce maternal mortality in the state. The intervention – announced in a statement signed by the Foundation’s President, Dr. Martins Abhulimhen — is part of a wider humanitarian effort to address the alarming rate of maternal deaths in Nigeria, particularly at the point of delivery where 70% of births occur under substandard conditions.
The distribution ceremony, held at the Government House in Ilorin, reinforces José Foundation’s long-standing commitment to life-saving, people-centred interventions. Working alongside First Lady Prof. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the Foundation delivered critical items including antiseptic soap, sterile cord clamps, padded sheets, gloves, disinfectants, sanitary pads and other essential supplies used at childbirth — materials often absent during deliveries in underserved communities.
