Jose Foundation Congratulates Acting IGP Usman Baba, Urges Creation of Children’s Commissioner Office in the Police Force
Jose Foundation UK, a leading Nigerian international NGO championing the protection of women and children against sexual exploitation – has congratulated Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, on his appointment as the 21st indigenous IGP of Nigeria. In a statement signed by its President, Dr. Martins Abhulimhen, the Foundation described Baba’s elevation as a well-deserved reward for decades of distinguished and purposeful service to the nation.
While felicitating with the new IGP, José Foundation also called for the establishment of a dedicated Children’s Commissioner Office within the Nigeria Police Force to safeguard the rights and interests of minors amid the rising epidemic of gender-based violence and sexual abuse of children across the country. The Foundation noted that such an office would serve as an institutional voice for vulnerable children and help drive systemic reforms to prevent, investigate and respond to child exploitation nationwide.
